With reference to your telegram of the
22nd. instant, I have the honour to inform you that ex-Police
Constable Taylor therein referred to was invalided from the
Police Force on the 15th. December last, and was granted a
gratuity (reduced by 25% owing to an indifferent defaulter
sheet) of $90. I enclose a copy of the Paper of Particulars
showing how his gratuity was computed, together with a letter
from the Captain Superintendent of Police recommending his
discharge, and a Medical Certificate testifying to his unfit-
ness for further service. The reduced gratuity of 890 was re-
commended by my Executive Council on the 15th. December.

The Police Authorities have no information
to the effect that Taylor was injured in connection with his
services in the Fire Brigade.
